In May
2007, we began our trip in the beautiful borderlands near Carlisle,
England.
Nearby Hadrian’s wall was built by the Romans around AD 120,
when they
realized they could not conquer the northern tribes and decided
to cut their
losses by building a fortified wall across the country.
Jedburgh Abbey, one of Scotland’s finest, was founded by
David 1 in 1138
Beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland’s Capital
This rotating boatlift at Falkirk replaced a series of
locks. It raises and lowers canal
boats 24 meters with tubs containing 300 tonnes of water and
is the only
one of it’s kind in the world.
